Harlowton offers a variety of outdoor recreational activities for you and your family. If you are an avid Hunter or Fisherman the surrounding area bosts large amounts of acreage in the Lewis & Clark National Forest and along the Musselshell River or in nearby Deadman's Lake or Martin's Dale Reservoir. Jawbone Golf course offers an attractive nine-hole course and the family can relax in the city pool. We have museums in town and nearby and you may even wish to catch a movie at the local theatre or go for a short stroll on the 'Smoking Boomer Rail Trail'. There are trailer hook-ups in Chief Joseph Park as well as fish in the ponds and in the summer Harlowton hosts several rodeo's and the Festival of the Wind.

This 9-hole grass greens course offers a unique golfing experience on the foothills of Montana's rugged Rocky Mountains, and is one of the west's most unique courses. The clubhouse offers a complete line of concessions, as well as a pro shop for all your golfing needs. Rental cars are also available.

Water lovers will enjoy the municipal swimming pool. Operated in the summer months, this heated facility offers shaded seating, a bathhouse, and picnic area. Certified lifeguards are on duty.

Upper Musselshell Museum

Filled with treasures form the Upper Musselshell River country. It houses an extra replica of a dinosaur skeleton found near Shawmut called the "Avaceratops Lammersi." Open May through September. Hours are 10 am - 5 pm, Tuesday - Saturday, and 1 pm - 5 pm on Sundays. Admission: $2 Adults, $1 Children ages 6-12.

A Harlowton Schools School-To-Work Project that is run by the students, and supervisors who donate there time, Dave and Jean Wallace. Movies are usually every other weekend. Concessions with reasonable prices such as cotton candy, popcorn, candy, pop, water, powerade, and pizza.
