Wheatland County is managed by a 3 member board of County Commissioners who are elected for six year terms. Various department heads are elected officials. The county employs cemetery maintenance and a road crew.

Emergency Services
Wheatland County Ambulance Service is a staffed by nationally certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's) Two ambulances are in service, and air ambulance service is available on-call from Billings or Great Falls.

Residential Services
Wheatland Memorial Hospital and Nursing home / Bair Memorial Clinic includes a 21 bed hospital / 33 bed nursing home with emergency room services , and radiology/lab. Two Family Practice Physicians and one Physician Assistant are on staff.

Wheatland County Senior Center provides meal delivery, socialization, and shuttle service to Billings appointments.
