![]() The beauty of the Harlowton/Wheatland County area of Montana remains a poorly kept secret. Mountain ranges ring the nearby prairie and rolling wheat fields. The Crazies rise boldly to the west, the Belts are visible to the northwest, the Snowies display themselves to the northeast, and the Beartooths can even be seen at times to the south. The Upper Musselshell River passes through Harlowton at its southern edge. Deadman's Basin (east) and Martinsdale Reservoir (west) and Crystal Lake (north) provide camping and fishing access as do smaller turnouts along the Musselshell. The Musselshell Ranger District Office of The United States Forest Service is located at the west end of Harlowton and offers valuable information for hunters and fishermen, campers and hikers. |
